Artistes 4 Change KVP - Singer

Susmit Bose

Susmit Bose, as he describes himself in one of his songs is, "poet, singer and a common man". He is also one of the few singers who have held on to his own genre of balladeering despite pressures to meet the superficial demands of commercialization. Described as a "man of causes" by the national media, Susmit is a poet and social activist who voices his dissent freely, frankly and fearlessly. His song lyrics portray the hard realities of political machinations and raise awareness about and advocate social issues at various platforms. In a forty year long career, he has participated in Cuba at the International Folk Song Festival, was invited to the Berlin Festival of folk and political song by the Oktober Club, performed with renowned flautist Paul Horn for an international project on World Music, released "Man of Conscience" an album to coincide with the 1990 visit of Dr. Nelson Mandela, performed for the India50 concert, featured on British Television as one of the most innovative artistes, and has produced several well-known music albums, TV serials, reportage, documentaries and corporate films. He is also founder of the Centre for International Arts and Culture.

Deepika T.

Deepika, a software engineer and a Playback singer by profession, believes that because of her multi-tasking ability she has been given a unique strength, wherein she can spend a certain amount of time working for the society. She has been involved not only in National but International causes also, such as singing for an Album "Haiti we are there for you", which was done in order to raise funds for Haiti children. She is also a general secretary for United Youth of India where she has been involved in helping the youth to come together and work for a cause. Apart from this she has been actively involved in upliftment of the weaker members of the society. She has nominated many underprivileged girls for Rai University for Free education and has performed at many charity shows so as to raise funds for various causes. She has also been actively involved in getting youth together in planting tree all over Bangalore, thus becoming a strong and active youth environmentalist for the society.

Pasam Venika Rao

Pasam. Venika Rao, at a tender age of 7, was moved by the plight of children who don't have access to education and other basic necessities. She decided to help them in her own small way. She does paintings and sells them to raise funds to support underprivileged children for their education. So far she has done 200 plus paintings. Her parents have started an NGO called "Venche foundation" to raise funds. Venika also donates clothes and books to the underprivileged children. Venika is looking for organizations that can promote her paintings and help her to raise funds for these children. She believes that it is her thinking, action and implementation that have got fantastic results. 15 children have been benefitted since January 2010. It is her desire to bring a smile to the underprivileged children and her parents are working to promote her paintings for a noble cause.

Rahul Gupta

Rahul Gupta is a 2008 graduate from IIT Kanpur and worked as an analyst in J.P. Morgan, Mumbai till March 2010. He is the co-founder full time CEO of rtination.com and is also pursuing his MBA from IIM Bangalore. He is responsible for strategy, promotion and technology for the website. rtination.com was launched on August 15th 2009 with a vision to facilitate filing of RTI applications online. It is India's first platform to enable online filing of Right to Information Act applications. The website drastically reduces the effort in filing an RTI application from hours to minutes. RTI Nation has a response rate of over 50% (based on a survey conducted in April). This is primarily due to drafting of applications in the appropriate fashion and sending them to the correct authorities. Applications that are not replied to are aided in the process of filing a first appeal. Through the past one year, rtination.com has made a significant difference in the lives of many Indians and is also enabling the creation of a community of people passionate for bringing about a change in the country. They shall act as a cohesive force and use RTIs as their means to achieve this goal. rtination.com believes in changing India, one application at a time. Rahul's vision is to help enable the Indian middle class file RTI applications and thereby promote transparency in the government.

Prateek Kumar

Prateek Kumar is a 2008 graduate from IIT Kanpur and currently works in J.P. Morgan, Mumbai. He is the Chief Operating Officer of rtination.com and controls various aspects of operations of the website. rtination.com was launched on August 15th 2009 with a vision to facilitate filing of RTI applications online. rtination.com is India's first platform to enable online filing of Right to Information Act applications. The website drastically reduces the effort in filing an RTI application from hours to minutes. RTINation have a response rate of over 50% (based on a survey conducted in April). Rasaal Dwivedi, graduated from NIT Raipur and is currently pursuing his MBA from IIM Kozhikode. He is handling the promotion activities of the rtination.com. rtination.com was launched on August 15th 2009 with a vision to facilitate filing of RTI applications online. rtination.com is India's first platform to enable online filing of Right to Information Act applications. Piyush Bhartiya, graduated from IIT Roorkee and worked in Schlumberger for 4 years abroad. He has currently returned to India and is pursuing his MBA from IIM Bangalore. He is a co-founder of rtination.com, which was launched on August 15th 2009 with a vision to facilitate filing of RTI applications online. rtination.com is India's first platform to enable online filing of Right to Information Act applications. Biraja Mahapatra

Biraja Mahapatra is a practicing lawyer in Delhi High Court. Mahapatra is one of the Founder members and the brain behind civil society Build India Group. He has a dream mission of the idea of one India - India first, through a unique model of mass communication bringing all religious institutions together for the purpose of nation building which no body has ever thought in this country. Mahapatra has conceptualized "Citizens' pledge festival" for unleashing societal contempt against terrorism and corruption while promoting in each individual love for the country. This festival has to be ushered in by all religious institutions across the country together at a fixed time. This is the first movement that gives equal importance to all languages, all individuals and all faiths. The citizens' pledge originally written by him in English has been translated in 14 languages and all these are circulating in educational institutions across the country. Mahapatra believes that it is high time that India attaches a sense of respect to politics as a subject of management right from the school level so that more and more committed people join politics. He believes that food, healthcare, education and employment should be available to citizens as a matter of fundamental right in their own milieu and this cannot be done unless politics is respected as a subject of management of resources right from Panchayat level. Mahapatra says Hating Politics is a crime against democracy.

Dr.Sunita Dube

Dr Sunita Dube, a pioneering sonologist and radiologist, established the Aryan Group of Hospitals in Mumbai's eastern suburbs as she feels that our society needs more hospitals especially where people don't have access to good healthcare. Dr Dube, states that "Being a successful doctor goes beyond medical achievements. It's about reaching and engaging with the community." With this thought in mind she decided that the medical profession needed a platform where various entities, both medical and paramedical, and the community could come together to network and pool their resources. That's how Medscape was conceived. Dr Dube's palette has grown to include pioneering education program for medical professionals, being an active member of various medical bodies, founding a non-profit organization for women, organizing and sponsoring community events, proactively working with social and charitable causes; being columnist for various publications and healthcare expert for popular television channels etc. In her capacities she has introduced a number of innovative programmes to attack the problem of blindness & cataract, diabetes and hypertension, cancer detection and awareness programs for epidemic disease in India, including the outreach health medical camps.
